International freight forwarder MBS Logistics has increased its own rail portfolio by ten times in one single move, enabling it to offer its customers additional attractive transport options in combined transport. Find out how they did it here.

Customers want more rail

  • MBS Logistics is an internationally active forwarding company with transport solutions by road, rail, air and sea.
  • The company has already worked with a handful of operators in the Rail segment and has always placed great emphasis on providing the best possible service to its customers.
  • Nevertheless, there was still room for improvement: Insufficient service, crowded trains and comparatively high prices often made the train less attractive than the truck.
  • The company was therefore looking for a way to add further operators to its rail portfolio and thus additional transport options for its own customers.

Additional options and new business

  • Today, MBS Logistics no longer has just five transport partners, but can access a network of almost 50 operators via an online portal. 
  • The latest example: A new customer came in with a transport order for 200 containers per year to be transported cost-effectively by rail. As for every new order, the Dispo team checked online in advance which options would be suitable for the request. 
  • "We were surprised at how many operators were offering our desired route," says Klara Boger, who is responsible for new business at MBS. Today, she says, they are more than satisfied with the transport partner they have chosen.
  • „Das Geschäft läuft 1A und so geräuschlos, dass wir durch die Weiterempfehlung des Kunden schon zwei weitere Aufträge gewonnen haben.“ Eines davon läuft bald an – natürlich per Bahn.

Booking booster brings 70% time savings

  • The booking process has also changed. Instead of 5 mails (inquiry, feedback of possible departures, official transport order, confirmation, data exchange) everything is now handled in one go.
  • Departures and all-in prices are directly visible with all surcharges and can be booked immediately. Data exchange also works online. On average, the operator receives feedback in less than 20 minutes.
  • "Modility is exactly the work relief we've been looking for for a long time," says Klara Boger.
